Unleashing the Power of "In Jesus Name"

We’ve Been Missing the Point

“In Jesus' name”—it’s the Christian sign-off. We say it at the end of our prayers, often out of habit. But what if we've turned something powerful into a ritual? When Jesus said “in my name,” He wasn’t giving us a magic phrase. He was appointing us as His representatives, fully authorized to act on His behalf.

That means when you show up, you carry the authority of Jesus Himself. You don’t have to say “in Jesus’ name” for it to count—you simply need to know who you are and walk in the confidence that He’s appointed you.

Jesus Gave Us His Authority

“I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!” - John 14:12–14 (NLT)

Jesus didn’t say this for shock value. He said it because He meant it. When we act in His name, we’re not begging—we’re representing. That means praying boldly for healing, deliverance, and provision.

You’ve Been Appointed

“You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.” - John 15:16 (NLT)

You’ve been chosen and appointed—not just to make it through life, but to walk in the same authority and provision Jesus did. From multiplying food to healing the sick, He’s telling us, “Go and do likewise.”

Pray Like You Carry Power

“At that time you won’t need to ask me for anything. I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name. You haven’t done this before. Ask using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.” - John 16:23–24 (NLT)

You don’t come to God as “just you.” You come as a representative of Jesus Christ. You’re covered by His blood, wrapped in His righteousness, and filled with His Spirit.

Power to Heal and Deliver

“And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” - Mark 16:17–18 (NKJV)

This isn’t just for the early church. Jesus said “those who believe”—that’s you. Your job isn’t to question if He still works this way. Your job is to believe and walk in the authority you’ve been given.

You Are Protected

The Lord is your shield in both the spiritual and natural realms. Even if the world is spraying poison in the sky or chemicals are in the food, His protection surrounds you. You’re walking in a bubble of purity, a force field of grace.

Where Two or Three Gather

“For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.” - Matthew 18:20 (NLT)

When you show up, Jesus shows up. Not in a symbolic way—in power, in authority, and in presence.

A Real-Life Example

One day, I was scrolling Facebook Marketplace and a blue Jaguar convertible showed up. I thought, “Get behind me, Satan.” I’m not a car guy—Beth will tell you that. But I heard God whisper, “I want you to have that.” I tried to ignore it. But then it showed up again. And again.

So I told Beth. We test drove it, and honestly, I wasn’t impressed. But the Lord was persistent. So I obeyed. I bought it. And I was so embarrassed I drove home with the top up hoping nobody saw me.

But that car ended up being a tool God used during a hard season of my life—COVID, criticism, isolation. It became a sanctuary where I’d drive through the country, talk with the Lord, and find healing. The point? Don’t be ashamed of the good things God does for you. Be obnoxiously bold about His blessings.

Be Obnoxiously Bold

God isn’t intimidated by your miracles. He wants you to be bold. He told us we’d do greater things than He did. So when people look at your life and think you’re crazy, that’s when you know you’re on the right track. Represent Jesus with power, with humility, and with confidence. And when the blessings come? Give Him all the credit—loudly.
