Let me start this sermon by reminding you that you are called to greatness. Within you is the God-given ability to do great things on a massive scale.
This can be hard for Christians to wrap their mind around because church leaders have done an incredible job over the years making people feel bad when they want to do great things.
On top of this, the church has become incredibly skilled at badgering all the well-known ministers. We believe all the crap people say about them on YouTube. We even feel justified when we join the accusations that they are all after your money.
I encourage you to abandon all of that nonsense because it is a ploy from the enemy to keep you from becoming great. You will not become what you complain about.
Even if these people are only doing it for the money, the Word of God says you have no business concerning yourself with that. Rather, you should be rejoicing that the Gospel is being preached.
Every one of you is called to do great things on a massive scale. It’s not just what you want. It’s what God wants. He wants your name to be known. He wants you to receive praise and honor from others.
What I am saying right now may be causing quite the inner conflict. You’ve been so well-trained to minimize yourself that you have a hard time even listening to me.
But you're not listening to me. You're listening to the Word of God. Let me show you. Turn to Deuteronomy chapter 26.
This is a good time to turn there with me, or pull it up on your phone. You need to prove to yourself that this is actually what God wants. Read His words for yourself.
Deuteronomy 26:18-19 NLT - The Lord has declared today that you are his people, his own special treasure, just as he promised, and that you must obey all his commands. And if you do, he will set you high above all the other nations he has made. Then you will receive praise, honor, and renown. You will be a nation that is holy to the Lord your God, just as he promised.”
The Lord wants to put His people on the top, where they are calling the shots and leading the way. He wants them to be known and praised by others. God wants His people to rule and to reign.
There’s only one condition to get there. Obey. Do everything the Lord tells you to do in His Word and by the Holy Spirit.
In other words, He gives you the plan, the roadmap, the cheat codes for a great life. All you have to do is listen and do what He says. When you do things His way, greatness is the result.
The best part is these things are not hidden. They are all written in this book we call the Bible. God gave us everything we need to know to live a great life.
So let’s dig in and download a few more of God’s cheat codes for a great life. We’ll stay right here in Deuteronomy but go back a few chapters. Turn with me to Deuteronomy chapter 7.
