A lot of people say God is all-powerful, and that’s absolutely true. But then they say, “If He wanted me healed, He would just heal me,” and that’s where things get off. God desires things like salvation for everyone, but people still have a choice to respond or not. There are other factors in play, and one of the biggest is what He has already placed in our hands.
Jesus has all dominion, all authority, and the name above every name. But then He turned around and said that we would do the works He did, and even greater works. That means something has been entrusted to us.
The good news to the poor is that you don’t have to stay poor. The good news to the sick is that you don’t have to stay sick. Even things like poverty and sickness are names that are below the name of Jesus.
So if those things are still showing up in our lives, the question isn’t whether God is powerful. The question is what are we missing?
What we’re really talking about is this simple idea. God will tell you to do something in the natural, and then He adds the super to it. That’s where the supernatural result comes from.
This applies to anything. It could be your health, your family, your finances, your relationships. You take a step of obedience based on His leading, and then He does what only He can do.
In Matthew 17:27, Jesus tells Peter to go fishing to pay their temple tax. He says the first fish will have money in its mouth. That’s a miracle, but notice something important.
Peter had to go fishing.
If he never went, the miracle never showed up. The provision was there, but it required action. The natural step unlocked the supernatural result.
In 2 Kings 4, a widow comes to Elisha in desperation. She has nothing except a small jar of oil. From a natural standpoint, that’s not enough to solve anything. But God doesn’t start with what you don’t have. He starts with what you do have.
So many people think they have nothing to offer. But maybe you can fix cars, or you’re a plumber, or you’re an electrician. That’s your starting point.
Elisha tells her to go gather empty vessels. Not a few, but as many as she can. That’s her natural step.
She brings capacity, and then God fills it.
As long as there were empty vessels, the oil kept flowing. When the vessels ran out, the miracle stopped. That’s a powerful picture. God will fill what you bring Him.
She sells the oil, pays off her debt, and lives on the rest. That’s how God works. He multiplies what you place in His hands.
She did her part. God did His.
In Matthew 8, a leper comes to Jesus and says, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.” His faith was in getting to Jesus and being touched. Jesus responds exactly at that level. He touches him and heals him instantly.
Then a centurion comes and says, “Just speak the word, and my servant will be healed.” His faith didn’t require Jesus to come physically. So Jesus responds differently. He speaks the word, and the servant is healed.
There is no rigid formula. God meets you where your faith is. Your responsibility is to act in faith and do the natural step He gives you. He handles the rest.
Disobedience works in the opposite direction. If God tells you what to do and you ignore it, you create a disconnect. You can’t expect the supernatural result without the natural obedience.
I started getting older but kept living like I was younger. Eating poorly, not exercising, just sitting around. The Holy Spirit kept nudging me, “You need to get in the gym.” And I ignored it.
That went on for a long time until I started feeling really bad. Then suddenly I was ready to go to the doctor, because that didn’t require any effort.
The doctor ran tests and came back with a list of problems. According to him, I was basically on the fast track to disaster. He tried to label me as diabetic and handed me multiple prescriptions.
But I made a decision. I refused to agree with the label. I acknowledged my bad habits, but I didn’t accept the identity.
The Holy Spirit told me to take only two of the prescriptions, not all of them. Then He gave me clear instructions for my natural part.
He told me to change my diet drastically, almost going keto. He told me to cut out sugar and carbs. He told me to exercise at least five days a week.
Then He added something else. He told me to listen to healing scriptures while I worked out and to stay in prayer.
I followed those instructions aggressively. I changed my eating. I got consistent in the gym. I adjusted when needed, even adding some carbs back when my blood sugar got too low. Everything He told me to do, I did.
That’s the key. When you’ve done enough the wrong way, there comes a point where your response needs to be, “Yes sir.”
Within about three months, my numbers dropped dramatically. My A1C was cut nearly in half. Everything improved quickly. From a natural standpoint, that kind of turnaround is impressive. But I know what happened.
I did the natural. He added the super.
Even after that progress, the doctor still tried to push more medication and reinforce the same diagnosis. That’s what the world does. It focuses on problems and numbers. It doesn’t account for what God is doing.
At one point, it discouraged me. But through prayer and encouragement, I realized what was happening. The Holy Spirit exposed the lie. The system will always find something wrong. But that doesn’t override what God is doing in your life.
This applies to everything. Finances, relationships, health, anything you’re dealing with. Your responsibility is to go to the Holy Spirit and ask, “What is my natural step?”
He will not leave you in the dark. If there’s something you’re responsible for, He will show you clearly.
When He tells you what to do, you do it. You don’t argue. You don’t delay. You don’t negotiate. You submit. Then you trust Him to do what He promised. That’s where the supernatural comes in.
If you need direction in an area of your life, your first step is to acknowledge it and ask Him. There’s no shame in that. God is a good Father. He wants to guide you. He wants to bring you into alignment so He can move powerfully in your life.
So from here on out, expect in faith that He will show you your next step. And when He does, take it.
Because when you do your natural, He will add the super.
